The drive from Edmonton to the border took six hours. The guard didn't ID on the way out but rather chose to get into his coveralls and toss the van with a fine tooth comb. It was getting dark when he finally let us go. We sped off and almost ran over a cow crossing the highway on a lonely stretch of northeast Montana. We took three hour shifts in zero visibility and drove all night through North Dakota and Minnesota. We pulled up to the Varsity Theater in St. Paul at 5:30 pm and went straight to soundcheck, a full thirty hours after leaving Edmonton. We played an angry, delirious set. $55. We agreed we'd record something but were in no condition to do it now.
