Alex Bender's review of video recording:

Amazing show with a fine setlist. West Bay Invitational is a particularly good version. I Love You So Much It's Killing Us Both is the standard early live version (see 04 Mar. 1994). Blake dedicates Kiss the Bottle to some girl on the verge of minor surgery. Ache is another LP song that sounds stunning at this performance, despite the lack of the harmonies. P.S. New York is Burning sounds great because you get to hear the bass much more clearly than on the LP. Parabola is pure intensity and even better than the Live 4/30/96 LP version. One of the highlights of this show has to be the last song, Friendly Fire. It's another slow heartbreaker in the vein of Accident Prone and Jet Black. During most of the show, the band seems to be pissed off. Blake snaps at the crowd for requesting songs, telling them, "Don't tell us the songs we do, we know them." He also expresses disdain at the fact that a light is directly pointed at him, comparing himself to a bug under a lamp. There is a funny moment when a fight breaks out in the crowd and Blake demonstrates his fine crowd control by saying, "hey, hey...hey" into the mic repeatedly. Blake's mood seems to lighten up by the end of the show, in any case. Interesting note: after the band stops playing, Blake says that despite the rumors, the band "will not sign to a major!" Liar! But it's okay, Blake, because Dear You was pretty good.

The video quality is nice, if not a bit dark. The view is from Chris's side of the stage. Accordingly, the sound is a bit bass heavy, since the taper was right next to the bass amp. Some might consider this factor a plus, since bass parts often obscured in the album recordings are clearly audible here. Chesterfield King is partially cut.

My friend still has the video of you guys back in 91 - 92 in Fort Worth at Madhatters before the show. Blake was being funny saying he was gonna break up the band, and join the NBA National Bowling Association. He showed us his protoype of his Aztecca character, good times. Not to mention Chris, he had us in stitches as well. A super great bunch of guys, who wrote some of the most influential songs to ever cross my ears and brainwaves. Love all you guys, and hope your doing well.
